Priya Mani was born on June 4, 1984 at Palakkad, Kerala, india She won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress for her successful role as "Muthazaghu" in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran.

She started her career with the film Kangalal Kaithu Sei, which was a flop at the box-office. Afterwards, she was paired with Dhanush in Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam, which flopped at the box-office as well. She is one of the few actresses who star in both critically acclaimed and commercial movies.
